EBLIDA Strategy for the Future, Outline Plan (RTF)


At the Executive Committee meeting in Copenhagen in October 1999, it was agreed that there was a need for a strategic discussion on the future direction of EBLIDA and a strategy team was appointed by the Executive Committee in September 2000. A draft plan was submitted to EBLIDA members for consultation in early 2001 and amendments were agreed by the Executive Committee in the light of comments received. The Executive Committee then presented the document to the EBLIDA Council for approval. Following discussion and further comment by members at the annual Council meeting in Bremen in May 2001, the strategy plan was approved.

The major objective of the strategic plan is to define the direction and priorities for EBLIDA 2001-2005. This is in response to the rapidly changing information environment; the information society and the new culture economy, technical and organisational convergence issues, new professional profiles, enlargement of the European Union to Central and Eastern Europe. Adoption of the draft EU copyright directive and a major focus hitherto of EBLIDA, will take place during 2001.
