EBLIDA is the
European Bureau of Library, Information and Documentation Associations, an
independent umbrella association of national library, information, documentation
and archive associations and institutions in Europe.
Responsibilities
Lobby and influence European institutions and
relevant bodies
Organise lobby activities in co-operation with national library & archive
organisations
Monitor and analyse proposed legislation and develop strategies to promote the
interests of EBLIDA members
Organise events, EBLIDA Council and Executive Committee meetings
Promotion of EBLIDA including publications and website
Ensure EBLIDA representation at conferences and events
Financial management of the association including funding
Direct and co-ordinate EBLIDA activities including the EBLIDA secretariat
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess good academic and professional qualifications, will be familiar with the institutions and procedures of the European Union, as well as current issues and trends in European libraries and archives, especially those relating to the digital environment. A legal background would be a distinct advantage as well as language skills.
Excellent
communication, organisational and analytical skills are essential as well as the
ability to network and build partnerships. Especially important is the ability
to communicate complex issues in clear and concise English. A political
flair is a prerequisite. The successful candidate will be a motivated
self-starter, will enjoy working independently in a small secretariat and will
be willing to travel extensively.
The
closing date for applications is Friday 1 November. Interviews will take place
in the Hague 15-16 November 2002.
