Who is the workshop for?

This workshop is for European information workers involved in the purchase of electronic information. The workshop is intended for librarians and other staff engaged in reviewing and negotiating licences for electronic resources with information providers on behalf of the library, the institution as a whole or a consortium.

What does it cover?

The one-day workshop helps you to understand the terms of a licence and provides strategies on how to negotiate effectively with publishers.

How much does it cost?

The fee includes lunch, refreshments and course material.

The tutor is Emanuella Giavarra, a lawyer with wide experience specialising in copyright and international contract law. A member of the Legal Advisory Board of the European Commission (DG Information Society) since 1996, Emanuella is a Partner in the law firm CWG with offices in Amsterdam and London. Emanuella has lectured widely on EU copyright law and issues concerning the licensing of electronic resources and has given papers at conferences worldwide, as well as being a lecturer at the TICER International Summer School on the Digital Library in Tilburg. Emanuella is a member of the National Electronic Site Licence Initiative (NESLI) Steering Group in the UK and over the past years has advised several other European consortia on licensing issues.
